7 Gorgeous Outfits For The Mother Of The Bride

For the Mother of the Bride, her daughter’s wedding day is always a very special day. It can often bring back memories of her own wedding day, when times would have been very different. So for this very special occasion she needs a very special outfit – after all, she is an important member of the wedding party – she is the Mother of the Bride.

The 7 outfits I have shown below are just a handful of the hundreds available from the many Nordstrom stores and outlets in the USA. They can also be purchased online and can be shipped to the UK.

You may have noticed most of these dresses are shown on very young models, but don’t let that put you off – all these outfits are suitable for a Mother of the Bride.

Komarov Cap Sleeve Chiffon Dress

Made from a light chiffon, this beautiful dress with it’s cap sleeves will flatter any shape body. The handkerchief hem gives it a youthful look. It’s pretty print and soft colors make it perfect for an informal summer, or evening wedding. Also team it with a pair of pretty sandals, and it’s just right for a wedding on the beach.

Tahari Shoji Dress and Jacket

This gorgeous ivory dress and jacket is elegant enough for any formal wedding. The dress is empire line, so suitable for a wide range of body shapes. The soft gold beading around the empire waist and down the front of the jacket give this whole outfit a sophisticated look. You may like to wear the jacket during the more formal part of the day, and remove it to reveal the beautiful dress in the evening.

Komarov Textured Charmeuse Dress

This dress, in a beautiful midnight navy color can only be described as elegance personified, perfect for even the most formal occasion. It’s designed in such a way that it it simply flows over the body. The fabric, although it’s actually polyester feels almost silk-like. The longer length and  the sheer sleeves are a real bonus.

Adrianna Papell Beaded Mesh Gown

This dress can only be described as breathtaking – exquisite. Definitely not for a casual wedding. The bodice has a built in bra which makes for a very smooth look. Hundreds of beads and sequins cover the top of the sleeves and the bodice. The skirt flows out to the ground in vertical panels giving a long lean look. It is an absolutely stunning dress, but I’m wondering if you would need to be tall and slim to do it justice.

Adrianna Papell Lace and Knit Dress

This empire line dress has been created especially for the plus size figure, although actually it’s cut so perfectly that it would certainly flatter any figure. The top of the dress is a faux wrap V neck lace design, and the lovely floaty sheer lace sleeves offer cover for the upper arm without looking too sleevey, if that’s your concern. The dress is an empire cut, so the skirt, which is made in a shutter-pleat style starts just under the bust giving the appearance of a narrow waist.

Tadashi Shoji Textured Lace Peplum Dress

This is a style that is right on trend at the moment, and yet it has the look of being almost retro, so it would be perfect for a vintage inspired wedding. The base color of the dress is nude which is then overlaid with a textured black lace.Worn with a pair of killer heels and a black wrap or bolero this would be a stunning outfit.

Tadashi Shoji Twist Front Taffeta Blouse and Skirt

This is a truly elegant outfit. The taffeta blouse has so many lovely design features. It is very fitted, with a wing collar and a full length zip at back. The twist front gives a lovely narrow waist. The three-quarter sleeves are edged with shirred cuffs. The long skirt is a mermaid style which flares out from the knees. This is a perfect outfit for anyone who is more comfortable wearing a blouse and skirt than a dress.
