7 Great Places To Get Married In New York

For many people, New York is the most exciting city in the world, and this is why so many couples decide on New York as the location for their wedding.

If you like the idea of a New York wedding, but you’re not sure of the specific location, check out my top 7 places in New York to tie the knot:

1. Ellis Island

This small island in New York Harbour is thought to be the most important part of America’s history. Between 1892 and 1954 over 12 million immigrants passed through the portals of this island to begin a new life.

So what better place than Ellis Island could you choose to start your new life as husband and wife?

2. St. Patrick’s Cathedral

Although New York boasts churches of all denominations, it is home to perhaps the most famous catholic church in America, St. Patrick’s Cathedral. This magnificent building can accommodate up to 2200 people, and has a constant flow of visitors throughout the day.

So if you decide to hold your wedding here you could have a very large number of guests. But if you prefer a smaller more intimate ceremony you can make your vows in the Lady Chapel at the back of the Cathedral.

3. Central Park

Central Park is arguably the most famous park in the world, and within it’s 843 acres of landscape are some great landmarks. But perhaps the one that is most popular with couples marrying in the park is the Boathouse in the centre, just a short stroll from 5th Avenue.

4. Empire State Building

Surely this must be one of the most exciting locations in the whole of New York to hold your wedding ceremony. But sadly, only a very few lucky couples get to exchange their vows here.

Weddings ceremonies are only performed on one day a year – Valentines Day, and only 14  couples are lucky enough to be chosen each year.

5. World Yacht Wedding Dinner And Cruise

This must be one of the most romantic ways to get married ever. It begins with a ceremony on the deck of the yacht, followed by a dinner cruise. The 3 hour cruise will take you down the Hudson River, taking in the views of the New York night time skyline and the waterfront of New Jersey.

6. The Plaza Hotel

What about following in the footsteps of celebrities like Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas and holding your wedding at the Plaza Hotel. Weddings are usually held in the grand ballroom or the terrace room where opulence comes as standard.

This hotel is luxury personified and promises you ‘an experience that is truly indulgent, exquisite and truly unforgettable’.

7.Manhattan Helicopter Tour

This is definitely something different – exchanging your vows as you fly over Manhattan in a helicopter. During the 45 minute tour over New York city, you will get spectacular views of the many skyscrapers, the Yankee Stadium, New York harbour, Central Park and the Statue of Liberty.

These are just a handful of the many locations where you can get married in New York. So as you can see, finding the locations is easy, the problem is choosing one.

So till next time
Take care

Jennifer.
