7 Steps To Buying Your Perfect Wedding Dress

Buying your wedding dress will probably be one of the most exciting things you have ever done.

You want to look fantastic, after all it’s your big day and you only get one chance to get it right.

So here are my seven top tips that will help you to find your perfect wedding gown.

Following these tips will guarantee you get the dress of your dreams.

1. Give Yourself Plenty of Time

Shopping for a wedding dress is not a five minute job. So you need to allow yourself at least six months, longer if possible. This way you won’t have to make any rushed decisions which could lead to regrets later on.

2. Set Yourself A Budget

Make sure you have worked out exactly how much you can spend on your wedding dress, and don’t be tempted to go over budget. Remember you still have to buy the extras like a veil, shoes and lingerie and other accessories.

3. Pick Your Style

You may already have a picture in your mind of how you would like to look in your wedding dress, so get yourself a few wedding magazines and cut out pictures of dresses you like. This will give you an idea of what you are looking for when you go shopping.

4. Take An Advisor When You Shop

Whenever you go shopping for your wedding dress, be sure to take a trusted friend or relation with you. Be sure it’s someone who will be patient and happy to spend hours watching you modelling gorgeous dresses. Someone who you know will be completely honest when you ask for an opinion, but remember, it’s your day so the final decision must be yours.

5. Hit The Shops

Visit as many shops as you can, and try on all the different styles and colours that are available. It’s said that most brides-to-be try on at least 30 dresses and some even up to 100  before they find ’ the one’. Although you have a good idea of the dress you are looking for, always keep an open mind and don’t be afraid to try something you wouldn’t normally try.

Many dresses will have little or no hanger appeal, but will look amazing on. Make sure your friend takes a photo of the dresses you like so you are able to look at them again after you have left the shop.

6. Don’t Impulse Buy

When you attend an appointment at a bridal shop, make sure you feel comfortable with the sales assistant that you will be dealing with. Tell her your budget and don’t let her tempt you into trying on dresses which are more expensive than that.

However nice she may be, don’t buy a dress because she says it looks great. You will know if it’s a contender, so tell her you will go away and think about it. Remember she is a sales assistant – her job is to sell dresses.

7. Congratulations! You’ve Found “The One“

From the moment you put on this beautiful dress you just knew it was the one. Your wedding dress is going to be the most important part of your day, and you know all eyes are going to be on you. Knowing you are wearing the dress you always dreamed of for you wedding day will make you feel like a princess, and you won’t be able to stop smiling all day.

So you know your special dress is out there somewhere waiting for you. And finding it is going to be so much fun!.

Take care
Jennifer.
